Looking for a taste of working life in an international, future-focused corporate group? Then join us as an intern/working student/master thesis student (m/f/d) and familiarise yourself with a suitable department for 6 months. You will be involved in large-scale projects and perform a defined set of duties independently. Use this opportunity to build a network and become familiar with our company.
Your responsibilities:
The tasks of the student will include:
- Build simulation models of highly complex mechanical systems using Multibody Dynamics and Finite Element simulation tools.
- Create models of different complexity (from analytical to full 3D FEM simulations) for real-world actuation systems, considering their transient behavior and control.
- Design and test new prototypes in our lab. Set up advanced test rigs with the cooperation of the prototyping team, define the testing concept, and evaluate/interpret measurement results.
- Apply your own ideas to optimize actual hardware solutions and/or simulation processes used in the design.
- Collaborate with our team members and learn about new technological trends and future control and protection devices.
- Document and present scientific results in a professional environment at ABB.
Your background:
- You are studying for a master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a similar field.
- You have good knowledge and experience in one or more of the following fields: Applied Mechanics, Mechatronics, Multibody Dynamics Simulation, Finite Element Analysis and Design, Prototyping and Testing of Mechatronic/Mechanical Systems.
- You are experienced in at least one of the following software packages: ANSYS, Adams, MATLAB/Simulink, SolidWorks.
- You are fluent in English (written and oral).
More about us:
We believe in fairness, so interns who join us will benefit from our expertise as they expand their own knowledge. We give you the scope to try things out for yourself and obtain practical experience. Your time is valuable, so you will receive appropriate remuneration for the duration of the internship.
Please note that internships are generally limited to six months, while voluntary internships during a bachelor course are for a maximum of three months.
Please state whether you are applying for a voluntary internship or undertaking a mandatory internship, and be sure to enclose your certificate of enrolment. In the case of mandatory internships, please include the corresponding extract from your university’s internship guidelines.
