Our Sell-Side Equity Research team is part of the Investment Banking Division and takes responsibility for all our activity across Continental Europe. The department is responsible for the coverage of publicly listed companies in the Eurozone and the Nordic region and has built a strong reputation, being the largest research provider in the DACH region with growing presence in Europe and the US.
The team in Frankfurt offers a modern, dynamic and ambitious working environment. The team is highly successful, demonstrated by multiple prestigious awards that Berenberg won in the Small and Mid Cap equity research industry in recent years. During your internship in the research team, a three months program starting in March, you will also be directly working together with our London-based analysts and the whole EU Small and Mid Cap team. As all your colleagues in the Investment Banking team, you will be working in the office during work hours, hereby allowing you to fully integrate in our collaboration-driven team composition, be fully involved in our live mandates and pitches, and eventually become a vital part of your colleagues’ day-to-day business.
What will you do?
- Conduct in-depth research on publicly traded companies to understand the financial, industrial and market trends affecting their performance
- Analyze financial data and financial statements to create financial models, projections, and valuation methods
- Monitor market trends, industry news, and regulatory changes to stay informed of new developments and potential risks and opportunities
- Write research reports and maintain databases on publicly traded companies to provide clients with recommendations and insights
- Attend presentations and conference calls to communicate research findings
- Support junior and senior analysts across Berenberg’s small- and mid-cap coverage for European equities
Who are we looking for?
- Excellent academics - degree educated at a top university, ideally within the Economics, Finance or Business field
- Preferably previous internship experience in equity research, portfolio management, sales and trading, or corporate finance
- Excellent technical knowledge is essential due to the very early responsibility and exposure in this role
- Impeccable communication skills allowing you to interact with fellow interns and other colleagues in an articulate and appropriate manner
- Heavily analytical, driven and focused, who consistently delivers high quality work despite an intense workload
- A team player – the success of the team depends on the frequent interactions between its members not only in Germany but across the UK, Europe and the US
- Fluency in English is essential; language skills in German or any of the Nordic languages would be advantageous
What we offer you:
- Varied and exciting area of responsibility in a modern and dynamic environment as well as an appreciative working atmosphere
- Structured and smooth onboarding process
